Currently serving as the CEO of the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence, Ivano has been at the forefront of global conversations on sustainability and development economics for over two decades. He is a recognised expert in corporate transitions to low carbon, and regularly speaks at prominent events to challenge the status quo and spur businesses towards efficiency in resource use. He has previously served with the United Nations as a senior official, and with the UNOPR as Chief of Programmes. His roles have taken him all over Africa and Asia as he focused on creating policies across the integrated energy and waste value chain to attract financing for a USD 770 million project portfolio. His career path includes involvement in key projects such as the creation of a Super ESCO, the Dubai Carbon Abatement Policy, the USD 27 billion Green Fund, and CO2 inventories for the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. He regularly lectures at universities in the fields of sustainability and carbon emission management, and is a board member of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) as well as the Green Project Management Association. Ivano’s recent certification in Disruptive Innovation and Sustainable Business Modelling from Harvard University complements his MBA from Coventry and other education and professional qualifications. Recent recognitions include the MBR Business Award, an Innovation Award from the UAE Ministry of Finance, and inclusion by Arabian Business in a list of the 100 smartest people in the region.

Essam Disi is the Director of Strategy and Policy at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Est. for SME Development (Dubai SME), a government agency under the Department of Economic Development (DED) – Government of Dubai - tasked with the development of Entrepreneurship and Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Dubai. In his present job, his main roles and responsibilities are to formulate long-term plans, strategies and policy support framework for SME development, in addition to executing strategic initiatives to support the SME sector and the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Dubai. Mr. Disi is a member of the DED Economic Policy Committee, the Dubai 2021 plan team and the Dubai 2030 Industrial Strategy team. Mr. Disi is also a member of the judging panel of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders since 2008 and has been involved in assessing and evaluating hundreds of start-ups and high growth SMEs from all over the Arab World. In addition, Mr Disi is a founding member of Dubai SME100 and RATE, the main two initiatives to support high growth SMEs in Dubai.

Anas Zeineddine is the Executive Director of Krypto Labs, a global innovation hub with a unique ecosystem for funding ground-breaking startups. Anas is leading the effort in positioning Krypto Labs to be the go-to business innovation center in the region by establishing a unique entrepreneurial ecosystem. He is executing the vision of setting up a platform that will provide start-up support services to UAE based companies at Krypto Labs’ HQ, while setting up a virtual incubator program that will support global startups located outside the UAE with mentorship, networking, and funding. Upon joining ADFG in 2016, Anas took what was simply an idea the company had about establishing an incubator and developed the entire vision and concept to become a world-class innovation center in Abu Dhabi. He oversaw the engineering and construction of the state-of-the-art facility that is now considered among the most creatively designed innovation centers globally. He is now leading the center and managing the overall program that Krypto Labs has to offer. Prior to joining Krypto Labs, Anas held various positions at ExxonMobil, a Fortune 500 multi-national, mostly managing multimillion-dollar oil and gas projects. He is an expert in project management and worked in technical and managerial roles including project planning, development and execution, instrumentation and control systems, automation, nuclear radiation safety, procurement, and software data optimization tools. He also worked with AMEC Plc, a British consultancy, engineering and project management firm, designing and optimizing automation systems. Anas has also undertaken entrepreneurial pursuits co-founding one of Canada's fastest growing Print & Design company and expanding its service to multiple cities across Canada. He also established merchant platforms for retail companies and supported their growth in areas of marketing and events management. He’s also a partner and consultant for an ambitious innovation company that is developing leading edge solutions for smart home automation ecosystems. Anas obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta. He has travelled extensively on business to the USA, Asia, Middle East and Europe. He relocated to Abu Dhabi, UAE in 2016.

Qussay Abdul Wahab, 44 years old, an Iraqi-Canadian citizen with over 24 years of entrepreneurial experience in gastronomy, information technology, supply chain management and SME advisory. During his MBA studies, Qussay decided to join the corporate world and started with Injazat Data Systems, an IT outsourcing company, as a business consultant. A year and a half later, in 2008, he joined Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development as a business counselor assisting UAE Nationals to startup their own ventures. At his current position as an Enterprise Development Acting Senior Manager, Qussay has supported over 300 Emirati-based projects, manage a team of 18 Business Counsellors, and is considered as key team player within KF Management. In addition, he initiated and/or executed several strategic initiatives such as the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Mentor, Big Data through Business Intelligence, Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Khalifa Innovation Center (KIC), Kitchen Incubator, e-Knowledge platform, Agribusiness (Za’arie Program), and awareness campaigns (AKOUN, Technopreneurship). In the past, Qussay has successfully executed various business ventures as an entrepreneur. He is dedicated and client-focused. He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Economics from Concordia University, Montreal, Qc, Canada and was awarded an MBA degree in Strategic Management from the University of Strathclyde, Abu-Dhabi, UAE in 2010. Overall, Qussay is perceived as an intuitive, methodological thinker that loves the challenge; a self-starter that loves outside the box thinking. Dorothy Gordon is the Chair of the UNESCO Information For All Programme and Board member of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education. She has worked in the field of international development and technology for over thirty years and is recognised as a leading technology activist and specialist on policy, education, technology and society in Africa. Her work as a leader, manager, consultant and speaker has taken her to over 100 countries. She is a strong advocate of the ROAM principles (internet universality), building on her work with the Open Movement and Creative Commons. Leveraging her government, corporate, civil society and UN policy and management experience she currently works as an advisor and management consultant. Previously, as the founding Director-General of the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, she strategically positioned the centre as a leading technology training and consulting partner on the African continent. During her tenure she actively encouraged greater participation of women in STEM, supported Ghana’s start-up economy and built global tech partnerships to complement South-South cooperation with India. She served as a senior manager with UNDP in India and held other management and specialist positions in Geneva, New York and Zambia. She mentors, volunteers, serves on governing boards and award juries with a number of local and global initiatives working to define a better technology mediated future. These include Creative Commons, IEEE WG-ICICLE, Kasahorow Foundation, Literacy Bridge Ghana, UNESCO, and the World Summit Awards. She holds degrees from the University of Ghana and the University of Sussex, Institute of Development Studies where she trained as a development economist. She works in both English and French.

Tarek Galal Shawki (Arabic: طارق جلال شوقى ) (born June 12, 1957 in Cairo, Egypt) is the Minister of Education & Technical Education in Egypt (Since February 2017) and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Dr. Shawki served as the Dean of the School of Sciences and Engineering at AUC (2012-2016) and as a senior strategic Advisor to AUC President (2016-2017). He was also named by the Egyptian President as the Secretary-General of the Presidential Advisory Councils (2014-17). Dr. Shawki served as the Director of UNESCO's Regional Bureau for Science in Arab States (June 2008-2012) while he served as the Chief of the Section for "ICTs in Education, Science and Culture" within the "Information Society Division" in UNESCO (Paris, France - Nov 2005 - May 2008). Dr. Shawki has served as the Regional Advisor for Communications and Information at the UNESCO Cairo Office (UCO) between January 1999 and November 2005. The UCO is a regional office for science, technology, and information for Arab States. Dr. Shawki manages UNESCO's file on public-private partnerships with the IT private sector and he was the key architect behind the signing of the UNESCO-Microsoft Cooperation Agreement on November of 2004. In addition, Dr Shawki is the architect behind the emerging UNESCO framework for ICT Competencies of Teachers besides being directly responsible for a number of national, regional and global UNESCO projects in the fields of ICTs, Education, Science and Culture. Dr Shawki has been a Professor of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics for many years, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also served as a panelist on the National Science Foundation and the National Research Council. His leadership is considered paramount to the Arab region in modernizing university education in basic and engineering sciences. Dr. Shawki is currently leading the national education re-imagination plan in Egypt through the introduction of a new education system starting at early childhood (Edu 2.0) while reforming the current education system (Edu 1.0) by changing its underlying assessment model. Educational Background Educated at Cairo University in Egypt and Brown University in Rhode Island, U.S., Shawki spent 13 years as a researcher and professor of theoretical and applied mechanics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, one of the top engineering schools in the world. Shawki has a Ph. D. and an M. Sc. in engineering, an M. Sc. in applied mathematics (Brown University), and a B. Sc. in mechanical engineering (Cairo University).

Dr. Souma Alhaj Ali is an Associate Professor in Industrial Engineering-Artificial Neural Network and Robotics; she is currently the Director for Excellence and Governance in HBMSU. She has a strong record of achievement combining skills in diverse areas of Industrial Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Quality and Excellence. She held many positions in the public and private sectors including the Assistant Dean of Engineering for Industry Relations and ABET, the Director of the Center of Academic Quality Assurance at Hashemite University and the Executive Director for the United Industrial Group Corporation. She is an EFQM lead assessor and MeLQ Lead Auditor with more than fifteen years of experience in building and operating quality management systems and designing automated systems in both private and governmental sectors and was appointed since 2017 as ICDE Focal Point on quality in the Arab region. Dr. Souma participated in writing a book “Mobile Robotics, Moving Intelligence” and published over 25 peer-reviewed papers in reputed international scientific journals in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Robotics, Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, and predictive analytics. She granted 4 funded projects in areas related to Autonomous Mobile Robots, Innovative Control Technologies, Rapid Prototyping, and Quality Control. Dr. Souma has a B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Industrial Engineering from University of Jordan and a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering-Artificial Neural Network and Robotics from University of Cincinnati.

Fahad Alsaadi, is equipped with 20 years of experience in the field of Administration and management. He holds a Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the American University of Sharjah (U.A.E.), and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Admin (Distinction with Honors) from Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai. Mr. Alsaadi is a PhD Researcher in the area of Total Quality Management. His research focus is on e-service quality in higher education in the United Arab Emirates. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Management (Concentration: Total Quality Management) from Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), Dubai, UAE. During his years of professional experience, he had obtained a number of professional certificates in many areas including leadership, Quality Management, Human Resources and Finance. Furthermore, he authored, and co-authored a number of SCIENTIFIC articles in the areas on Service Quality and TQM.

Rabih Haber has been leading HR in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) since January 2012. His role was expanded to also lead HR in Asia in December 2018. He is part of the Global Human Resources Leadership Team, and the Senior Leadership Teams in both Asia and EMEA. Rabih has also provided strategic insight and support for several global projects, including MetLife’s focus on culture and the MyVoice employee survey. Rabih joined MetLife through the acquisition of ALICO in 2010, and brings nearly 25 years of experience across a wide variety of HR disciplines as well as Operations. He joined ALICO Middle East and Africa Regional Office in Cyprus in 1994 as a Management Associate. He was then promoted to Regional HR Director- ALICO MEASA. Dr. Wasseem Abaza is an Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Zayed University and the Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center where he manages the University’s innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives. He has conducted workshops on topics such as Sustainable Innovation and Positive Organizational Development for organizations such as the Dubai Police and the Al Ahli Holding Group and was recently voted one of the Top 100 Leaders in Education by the Global Forum for Education and Learning. Deema Al-Alami is the Vice President -Arabic Language & Islamic Studies at GEMS Education, UAE. Anita Nouri is a Founding Partner and CEO of Green Energy Solutions & Sustainability LLC a Dubai based company targeting landfills in the region. Landfills are a reality in the UAE and throughout the GCC and at the very least need to be degassed. Landfill gas can provide a renewable energy source that provides stable power to the national grid and support the diversification of energy sources. The Al Qusais Landfill is the GESS flagship project. In 2011 GESS pioneered the first landfill gas to energy project in the Middle East. We are working with the government and are under the jurisdiction of Dubai Municipality, the landfill gas is currently generating power to the GESS site operations and to the Dubai Municipality Scale house and offices. It is currently the only landfill in the Middle East to produce power from landfill gas. “As entrepreneurs we are proud that this standalone project is setting the benchmark in the region for alternative energy”. Green Energy Solutions & Sustainability LLC has registered this project with the UNFCCC under the CDM scheme and is able to monetize the credits through a signed Emission reduction agreement with the Norwegian government. GESS has established itself as a leader in the region. Anita Nouri has been a speaker at many events, as well as being acknowledged, she has attained several awards and recognition for the work she has done. GESS is targeting landfills and providing environmental solutions throughout the region.

Ahmed Ankit’s areas of interest for research include Applied Linguistics, Communication, e-learning and Education Leadership. He is the Dean of Research and Doctoral Studies at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He was the Dean of Education at the American University in the Emirates and previously the Vice President for External Relations and Cultural Affairs at Ajman University, UAE, where he supervised collaborative projects with international organizations and academic institutions. He chaired the Curricula and Study Plan Committee and contributed greatly to the licensure and accreditation of academic programs. He has been active in academia with a focus on teaching and research in Educations Leadership, Applied Linguistics and E-learning. He has presented papers at several international academic events and chaired a number of conferences.

Anwaar Al Shimmari 18 years’ multi discipline experience in Architecture, urban planning, engineering, and infrastructure has put her in a short listed professional expertise in the region. She had the privilege to work in Federal government, local government, and private sector, which strengthen her capabilities in dealing with stakeholders and decision makers. She holds a BSc in Architectural Engineering, 2 master degrees in Urban Planning and Transportation Planning, and she is a PhD candidate in Urban Planning Public Policies. She is a professional mentor and technical judge for more than 4000 projects, products, and engineers. Anwaar is the Chief Innovation Officer and Director of Design. She is leading the team of Artificial Intelligence as well the Scientific Research committee. She has Diploma in Government Innovation from University of Cambridge and Diploma in Executive Leadership from Oxford University. She won multiple awards locally and internationally. Al Anoud Mohamed Salman is an enthusiastic Emirati . Graduated from the UOS in 2005 with excellence; GPA of 3.82 with a Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Technology; Joined MOHAP in the 25th of July 2005 in Al Kuwait Hospital, worked as a medical laboratory technologist for 5 years. Obtained MSc degree (GPA 3.71) in Public Health & Excellence in health care organization from HBMSU in 2011, and appointed as quality manager unit in Al Kuwait Hospital in the 9th of November in 2011. The hospital accredited for JCI IN 2015.Al Anoud was appointed as the acting head of CPD from 2012 to 2015 along with her responsibilities in quality.In 2016, she moved to work in Khorfakkan hospital in MOHAP as the head of quality & excellence. The quality of a teacher’s knowledge, skills and competencies have an impact on their students’ achievement, as education is a complex process that involves a variety of different processes and elements of teaching. The aim of this dissertation to explore the needed competencies for teaching in the blended learning environment in addition to investigate the best practices of teaching Arabic language in order to set a clear concept about a set of competency framework for Arabic language teachers who will teach in a blended learning environment. This study explores the needed (ICT) competencies for Arabic language teachers who are teaching Middle and Secondary schools' students, and investigates the effective practices of teaching Arabic language The findings of the study show that there were different levels of acceptable of competencies in the general practices, however, there are also certain limitations regarding the teaching reading competencies. The outcomes also indicate that teaching writing competencies and ICT competencies related to teaching in a blended instructional environment is an area that needed the most attention. The findings in this study can be untiled to improve the Arabic language teachers' evaluation framework and to effectively design training programs.

He has about 20 years of experience in process improvement, quality methodologies, and excellence systems, working in the contracting, services, manufacturing and logistics sectors. He earned his PhD from the University of New Brunswick in Canada, Masters from Concordia University and Bachelors from Jordan University of Science and Technology. He has published one book on company-wide management system and more than 25 papers in various international journals. He is also certified as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and as a Lean Leader trained by the Juran Institute, Lead Advisors, Alignment Strategies in Canada and Johnson Controls Intl. in the USA, and as a Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAH 18001) Lead Auditor by the Bureau Veritas. He won the United Arab Emirates Quality Professional Award by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in 2015.
